is there any love?

Pose has been tearing up the western hemisphere this summer, and the general consensus of the state of our world is just plain sad. Recently, it seems as though the world has reached a new frontier of sadness. Just when it seems things are getting better, they seem to get worse. Bernie Madoff has begun serving his life sentence, but the people who he has bankrupted, including ninety year old Ian Thiermann, who will be bagging groceries for the rest of his life so that he have a roof over his head and food on his plate. The Honduran coup, which seemed to be cooling down, is again raging through the city of Tegucigalpa. The photos of both Zelaya's, the ousted president's supporters and those of Micheletti, the "interim president" bring tears to my eyes. A country of such poverty, such dereliction, usually gleamed with hope in the eyes of both children and adults who invision a better life for themselves. The people of this country remain very close to my heart, and it has been hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I cannot do a single thing to change their situation, except be there communication wise, for the people I know and love going through this time of insanity, unrest and violence. On our own soil, our economy continues to fail us. With legislation like Cap'n Trade that will not only raise prices on fuel, coal, energy, etc., but also EVERYTHING ELSE, fiscally it is getting harder and harder to hold on. The people being crunched the most? Professors, teachers, blue collared workers, or really in other words the middle class. Employment rates continue to rise, leaving the public with as little as possible, so they are barely scraping by. One has to stop and wonder, how much more of this all can we take? And the sick thing is, as bad as it seems right now, it could be worse. Fingers crossed, it will hopefully only get better.
