It has been quite a while since I have written to all of you, but I have been making a mental draft of what I would write about next. As I have been shopping recently, I have noticed myself picking up extremely preppy pieces. This in no way means that I want a membership to a country club or to take up some ghastly pastime like golf or squash, but for some reason, the traditional flair of
Jack Rogers Navajo Sandals and sweet
Lilly Pulitzer summer dresses have struck me in a new way. The classic Lilly dresses are not too casual, but not too formal, but really just right for those in between occasions. The weight is perfect, the signature "Lilly lace" is adorable, and best of all, true to their original founding, they hide many stains. In addition, in the past few weeks, I have found myself wanting to fill my closets with
Ralph Lauren oxfords in every color. Even before now, I have always believed oxfords and cardigans were essentials to any and everyones wardrobe, both men and women. Preppy pieces always look classy and sophisticated, and unless you take it overboard (grosgrain and a pink and green color scheme head to toe), you will look extremely pulled together. I constantly forget to wear jewelry, but when I feel my outfit is lacking, a strand of pearls makes you go from bleh to sophisticated. I think its time to give preppy a second chance. But follow this advice with caution. You do not want to look like like an SMU sorority girl.
